On 10th November 2011, Dario Gradi announced that he was stepping down as manager of Crewe Alexandra after an astonishing 1,362 games in charge.
Starting his managerial career at Wimbledon, after a brief, rather unsuccessful spell at Crystal Palace, Gradi joined Crewe in June 1983. After stepping down in November 2008, he has continued ‘caretaker managing’ The Railwaymen a further 109 times. Officially he is leaving to become head of Youth Development at Gresty Road. Who wouldn’t wager we’ll see him back in the management hotseat soon?
