Motherwell goalkeeper hails Celtic star goalkeeper Trevor Carson has hailed former team-mate Craig Gordon, who achieved treble winning success with Celtic this past season.
Carson has opened up about his relationship with Gordon during their time at Sunderland and revealed that he thinks that the Celtic first choice shot-stopper was often not deserving of criticism.
He said, “I was with Craig Gordon for three or four years. I was on the bench a lot under him and he always did well. I speak to him quite regularly. He’s one of the best I’ve ever worked with and I learned so much from him. It’ll be surreal to come up against him, but it would be a fantastic experience.
Gordan joined Sunderland from Hearts for £9 million in 2007 which was at that time a record fee for a British goalkeeper. Though he looked promising at times, injury problems curtailed his progress and it looked as if he was going to retire from the game.
Carson has left Hartlepool United following the team’s relegation from the Football League and has joined Motherwell as he looks to boost his chances of playing a role in Northern Ireland’s 2018 World Cup ambitions.
